Felsaris was founded by David Leimann and his wife. David brings years of experience from motorsport, aerospace, and academic research at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), with deep expertise in 3D-CFD, AI-driven simulation, and a patented development approach for hydrogen engines. His wife, an economist with a background in consulting and corporate leadership, strengthens the company on the strategic and financial side. Together, they form the foundation of a loyal, hand-picked team that combines top-tier engineering skills with entrepreneurial thinking.

What does a typical engineering service look like?

After an initial consultation, we jointly assess your requirements, define technical targets, and propose concrete implementation steps. Depending on the project scope, we support you from early-stage concept development through to functional prototyping – or deliver targeted simulations and optimizations.

Can you develop a functional hydrogen combustion engine (H2ICE) for us?

Yes. We are experts in this field with years of experience in the development of modern hydrogen internal combustion engines. We cover all engine classes up to V8s for both stationary and mobile applications. Our specialization lies in high-performance use cases up to 600 hp for passenger vehicles. Starting from a conventional base engine, we design the entire H2 powertrain including mechanical conversion, performance and emissions layout, boosting systems, test bench validation, and calibration of the base application for your prototype vehicle.

Can you help me develop an innovative ZIM project idea?

Absolutely. In a structured innovation workshop, we map your in-house competencies and guide you to a viable innovation using proven creativity techniques and market research.
We then prepare the full ZIM application for you. The workshop itself is already eligible for 50–80% public funding.

What is the real benefit of simulations?

Faster, more cost-efficient, and higher-quality product development.
Faster and cheaper, because simulations allow you to frontload key development insights, reducing the need for costly iterations and physical testing.
Higher quality, because simulations give you deep insight into all relevant physical parameters, including flow dynamics and thermal behavior. We also support you in analyzing the results and building predictive AI models based on the simulations.

Simulations are usually too expensive. What makes your service different?

We hear that a lot. We only run simulations when we are confident that the value you gain clearly exceeds the cost. The first consultations are free of charge and help clarify your expected ROI.
For maximum cost transparency, we also offer fixed-term CFD on-demand subscriptions, allowing you to validate the added value in a predictable and low-risk manner.

What is the ZIM funding program?

ZIM (Central Innovation Program for SMEs) is Germany’s key funding scheme for small and medium-sized enterprises. It supports innovative R&D projects with grants of up to €310,000, covering personnel costs, external services, and project-related overheads.
We are happy to help you develop a suitable project idea and manage the entire ZIM application process on your behalf.

Can your consulting services be subsidized?

Yes. We offer accredited consulting services under the BAFA Innovation Voucher Program, enabling you to receive up to €3,500 in funding per project (up to 80% in Eastern Germany), twice a year.
That means you can access up to €7,000 worth of innovation consulting annually for just €3,500.
We take care of the BAFA application process to ensure you receive the maximum eligible reimbursement.
